Physical Description
Physical DescriptionAdvertising sign for Mobiloil. Round sign is white with red border, and image of a gargoyle, and the words "Gargoyle", "Mobiloil" and "Socony-Vacuum" on the front. Back is black with red border and all the same words, plus images of a car and a man. 30 inch diameter. Sign is partially damaged by the Revolution in Cuba. The damage consists of a holes in the sign and rust.

Historical NoteReceived in March 2016 during an official state visit to Cuba. It was the first visit to Cuba by an American president since Calvin Coolidge visited in 1928.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
