Physical DescriptionFramed print depicting Martin Luther King, Jr composed of small circles that form inset images. The figure is sitting and looking out prison bars to the left. Outside the jail cell in red and orange is a burning cross. In the upper right right in blue are African American historical figures such as Fredrick Douglass and Harriet Tubman as well as the Lincoln Memorial. Included in the background are symbols including scales of justice, an hourglass, and the words non-violence, love on his arm, the Bill of Rights, and an inscription bottom right.

Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
