Physical DescriptionBlack dress with print of purple and white wisteria, green trees, and water birds. Pattern has decorative gold accents. The dress has a fitted bodice, elbow length sleeves, and a full skirt.
Historical NoteFirst Lady Michelle Obama wore this dress at the Inaugural Prayer Breakfast on January 21, 2009; at the United Nations Summit in New York, NY on May 5, 2009; at a tour of the herb garden at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, NY for the United Nations Summit on September 24, 2010; at CentroNia, a childcare facility in Washington, DC., for Let's Move! Child Care on June 8, 2011; at a Memorial Day weekend event at Arlington National Cemetery in May 28, 2012; and at the Decatur House in Washington, DC on May 22, 2013.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the First Lady and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
