Physical DescriptionFramed certificate of appreciation to Chef Sam Kass in a black wood frame. The top half features a photograph of about two dozen chefs in matching black aprons and hats with a man in a suit and a woman in a red blazer in the center. In front of them are several baskets of fruits and vegetables. The bottom half features text on a yellow and white gingham background above the Chefs Move to Schools logo and a line of logos from supporting partners.
Historical NoteThis item is associated with Sam Kass, White House Assistant Chef and the Food Initiative Coordinator. In May 2010 he announced the Chefs Move to Schools program on behalf of the Obama administration. Chefs were paired with schools in their communities to create healthy meals and teach young people about nutrition and healthy choices. As part of the First Lady's Let’s Move campaign, the program also showcased culinary arts as a professional field for students to gain interest in and pursue as a potential career field.
