Physical DescriptionAn acoustic guitar, custom Koa Dreadnought model with a light-colored spruce front and figured koa back wood, with mother-of-pearl inlaid around the body, in the fingerboard, and in the headstock. Interior manufacturer's label signed by C.F. Martin IV, Daryl Hall and John Oates. Accessories included with guitar: "Martin Custom Shop" guitar case, protective black velvet and satin guitar cloth, guitar case key, guitar pick with printed John Oates signature, extra strings (6), and polishing cloth.

Historical NoteJohn Hall and Daryl Oates gifted this custom Hall & Oates model Martin guitar to President Barack Obama following their performance at the Governors' Ball on February 22, 2015.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
