Physical DescriptionA cream-colored strapless floor length dress with silver metal sequins in a floral design. There are three layers to the garment: an interior lining of sheer silk, the solid beige main layer, and the outer sheer crepe fabric embellished with silver metal sequins. The corset has an interior bodice.
Historical NoteFirst Lady Michelle Obama wore this gown to the India State Dinner hosted at the White House on November 24, 2009. This was the first official State Dinner of the Obama Administration and welcomed His Excellency Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, and his wife, Mrs. Gursharan Kaur.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the First Lady and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
