Physical DescriptionA gold-toned Israel Presidential Medal of Distinction that contains seven turquoise stones set into the medal in front of a gold-toned minimalist menorah with a blue background and golden dots throughout the background. On the perimeter of the medal is "Presidential Decoration State of Israel Outstanding" written in Hebrew in blue. The medal has a white and blue ring at its top that is attached to a blue and white ribbon inset in the frame.
Historical NoteAwarded to President Barack Obama on the occasion of his visit to Israel during a State Dinner on March 21, 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
