Physical DescriptionMiniature model of a traditional Maldivian sailboat. The boat has one canvas sail, two pairs of oars on either side of the boat, a five-pronged metal anchor, and a curved rutter. The model stands on a red felted base with a dark wooden trim and has a acrylic cover. In the right corner of the base there is a medal plaque debossed in black with dedication information.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of President Barack Obama's visit to the United Nations General assembly in September 2012.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
