Physical DescriptionDecorative wooden box with painted design on lid and sides. Background of the design is silver-toned and reflective. The center design depicts colorful birds and flowers. In rectangles surrounding the central design are repeating geometric batters with floral accents in blue, yellow, and pink. Sides of the box also have a flower scene framed by a similar motif. Top trim of the body of the box is a repeating feather design in yellow, white, and red. Back and bottom of the exterior of the box are lined with black vinyl. Interior is an unfinished light wood.Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of First Lady Michelle Obama's official state visit to Mexico in April 2010.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
