The Senate Spouses Organization is a group formed by the spouses of U.S. Senators. The organization was formally established in 1917 as the Senate Ladies Red Cross Unit to contribute to the war effort during the First World War. Following the war, the group expanded its charitable work. The group sponsors an annual luncheon in honor of the First Lady of the United States.
