Aung San Suu Kyi is a Burmese politician and a 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She served as State Counsellor of Burma between April 6, 2016 and 2021. The position of State Counsellor is equivalent to that of prime minister in other countries. While serving as Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi also served as the Minister of the President's Office and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to becoming the Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi served as a Member of the Burmese House of Representatives from May 2012 until March 2016.
