Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC, is a cooperative, multilateral economic and trade forum headquartered in Singapore. Every year, one of the 21 member economies hosts APEC meetings and serves as the APEC chair. The United States has been a member since APEC's founding in November 1989.
