René Gagnon was a prominent Quebec painter and draftsman who was born in Chicoutimi (formerly Cap-Sainte-Anne), Quebec and lived in l'Anse-de-Roche, Quebec. His works were in several museums including the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art. He was a self-taught artist, who first exhibited in Arvida. One of his paintings is part of the White House art collection.
