Mohandas Gandhi, often referred to with the honorific title Mahatma Gandhi, was an Indian non-violent peace activist, leader of the nationalist movement in India, and politician. Gandhi led an organized campaign of passive resistance against British Rule in India that included marches and hunger strikes. After the Partition of India and Pakistan, Gandhi turned his attention towards finding peace between Hindus and Muslims. During his life and since his death Gandhi has represented peaceful protest and reformation.
