Mercedes Aráoz is a Peruvian politician, professor, and economist who served as the Second Vice President of Peru from July 2016 until May 2020 and as the Prime Minister of Peru from September 2017 until April 2018. Between 2006 and 2010 she held three ministiral positions as Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Minister of Production, and then Minister of Economy and Finance. From July 2016 until September 2019 Aráoz represented the constituency of Lima as a member of Congress.
