Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson is an Icelandic politician who served as the Prime Minister from 2016 until 2017. Since first beginning his parliamentary career as a representative for the South Constituency in 2009, Jóhannsson held many positions in the government of Iceland including as Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources from 2013 until 2016 and as Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture from 2013 until 2016. Jóhannsson has been serving as the Chair of the Progressive Party since 2016. Prior to entering politics Jóhannsson was a veterinarian and ran a family farm.
