Nichelle Nichols

Nichelle Nichols was an American actress best known for her role as Lieutenant Commander Nyota Uhura in Star Trek. She was one of the first Black women to be featured in a major television program. NASA honored her in 1984 with their Public Service Award for her efforts towards integration of the United States space program.
