Queen Rania of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is the current Queen consort of Jordan, serving since the accession of her husband, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, in February 1999. Born as Rania Al-Yassin she received a degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. Upon her graduation she worked in banking prior to work information technology. Since marrying the now King of Jordan in 1993, she has been active in global initiatives for progress and equal rights.
