Tsakhia Elbegdorj is a Mongolian politician who served as the 4th President of Mongolia from 2009 to 2017. He had previously served as the Prime Minister of Mongolia in 1998 and again from 2004 until 2006. Elbegdorj was one of the key players in Mongolia's transition to democracy and co-drafted the country's first democratic constitution that was adopted in 1992. During his time as President, Elbegdorj established the Asian Partnership for Democracy initative and served as the chair of Community of Democracies.
