Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI served as head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from his election on April 19, 2005 to February 28, 2013, when he resigned. Prior to his election, he served as Dean of the College of Cardinals in Vatican City.
