René Préval was a two-time President of Haiti, serving from 1996 until 2001 and again from 2006 until 2011. Préval served Haiti in the immediate aftermath of the 2010 Earthquake. During his time in office, Préval focused on economic stabilization and normalization of democracy. He was notably the first Haitian president to serve his full elected term and peacefully transfer power to the next elected official.
