Physical DescriptionTwo marching band shako hats with a white leather top, a purple band around the center, and a white visor. At the front center of the hats is a metal emblem depicting a version of the Great Seal of the United States with the eagle looking towards the arrows. A silver-toned chain goes across the visor and is held in place with a metal button on each side that have a debossed harp design. The chin straps attach at the same button.
Historical NoteGift was received from the manager of the music production company for OK Go!, which performed at President Barack Obama's 50th birthday campaign fundraiser in Chicago in August 2011. The jacket was used in the music video for "This Too Shall Pass", featuring OK Go and members of the Notre Dame marching band.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThese items were gifts from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. They were received through the Office of the President and maintained there until their transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
