Physical DescriptionTwo blue leather folders with facsimile Letters of Credence presented by Benjamin Franklin to the King of France, Louis XVI, October 21, 1778. The cover of the folders is debossed with gold ink with information about the gifting of the facsimile.

Custodial History / ProvenanceThese items were gifts from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. They were received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until their transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
