Physical DescriptionTwo rag dolls with blond yarn hair, rosy cheeks, and black eyes. Clothed in white shirt, red skirt, a black apron with floral trim, a traditional black headscarf with a red, white, and blue rosette, black shoes, white socks, and white bloomers. Red ribbons are tied around the wrists and in the hair. A French flag is embroidered on the lower right of the apron. Embroidered in yellow on the front of the skirt is "Alsace".
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of the 2009 Strasbourg-Kehl NATO Summit.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThese items were gifts from a foreign official to Malia and Sasha Obama during the Obama Administration. They were received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until their transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
