Physical DescriptionTwo handmade wooden frames containing a photograph of black-eyed susan flowers and a blue swallowtail. A handwritten message on an index card is on the reverse.
Inscriptions and MarkingsCard on back: "Serenity Preserved; The butterfly had a perfect lie. I gently but firmly set my feet and leaned toward it with my then (8/02) approximately 33 year old 35mm SLR for the closest picture. Focused. Held my breath. Click. Serenity on film. I inherited the camera in 1973, the year my father died. Golf metaphor inspired by Emily Flanigan."
Custodial History / ProvenanceThese items were gifts from a member of the general public to Malia and Sasha Obama during the Obama Administration. They were received through the Office of the President and maintained there until their transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
