Physical DescriptionThree clear glass picture frames with a blue and gold geometric and floral design on the back of the glass. At the top of the frames, in the decoration, is the Great Seal of the United States. The image in the frames is a reproduction of a painting depicting the U.S. Capitol building under construction. The back of the frames is wood covered in blue velvet, with a fold out stand.Historical NoteThese frames were intended to be gifts for attendees of the Inaugural Luncheon on January 21, 2013.
A card that accompanied these frames states: "The frame pattern incorporates motifs found around Statuary Hall and the U.S. Capitol. Inside the frame is a view of the Capitol from the East Front, from a hand colored wood engraving from the Illustrated London News, May 25, 1861. This is to be replaced by a photo of the President taking the oath of office. Attendees of the Luncheon will be mailed the photo of today's ceremony shortly."
