Physical DescriptionGreen woven Mochila Wayuu bag with yellow, green, and orange geometric diagonal patterns. The handles are the green with woven yellow, orange and pink patterns. A tasseled cord runs around the top of the bag in order to close it.Historical NoteWoven by the indigenous women of the Wayúu community in La Guajira.
Received via diplomatic pouch in connection with the Summit of the Americas held in Cartagena, Colombia in April 2012.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the First Family during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
