Physical DescriptionPainted porcelain egg with a matching base. The egg is painted maroon with gold lines creating diamond shapes with flowers at the intersections. One side of the egg is painted with the depiction of a man riding a horse and slaying a serpent-like creature. The base is painted with the same maroon and gold pattern with a line of gold at the bottom. There is a hole in the bottom of the egg and a corresponding post in the top of the stand to hold it. There is an Imperial Porcelain logo painted on the bottom of the base.Overall - 3D (Egg Alone) H 4 in x Diam 3 1/4 in (10.2 cm x 8.3 cm )
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
