Physical DescriptionDeep plum colored cardigan made from a suede-like fabric with long sleeves, a line of buttons to close the middle, and a scalloped bottom edge. There are triangular cutouts in a row around both cuffs and in two rows around the middle of the chest.Historical NoteFirst Lady Michelle Obama wore this ensemble on the "Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special" on December 12, 2009 and to a service at Saint John's Church in October 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the First Lady and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
