Physical DescriptionWhite and charcoal coat with three-quarter length sleeves and brushed print rendering of a rose across the upper back and proper right hip. Coat has white silk lining and no closures.Historical NoteFirst Lady Michelle Obama wore the dress and coat to an Easter service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, DC on March 31, 2013. She wore the dress from the ensemble to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History for a ceremony honoring the donation of her inaugural gown on March 9, 2010. She wore the dress again at the unveiling of the official portraits of President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush at the White House on May 31, 2012.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the First Lady and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
