Physical DescriptionModel of the FengYun-3 polar-orbiting meteorological satellite attached to a curved pole that juts out of a base in the shape of the Earth. On the base, China is marked with its name and a red star. The satellite is in three parts with a gold-toned body, two silver-toned dishes, and a silver-toned and black mock solar panel.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology, John P. Holdren during the Obama Administration. It was received through the U.S. General Services Administration and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
