Physical DescriptionA pewter handled letter opener with steel blade. The cast pewter handle is slightly convex, with an oval shaped opening at the end, with a circular finial attached. The blade gradually tapers to a point.
Historical NoteThis item was one of fifty letter openers used during the joint session to open the certificates of electoral votes received from each of the fifty states in January 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThis item is material associated with various agencies and offices during the Obama administration and maintained as government property until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
