Physical DescriptionTwo orange and neon yellow braided string friendship bracelets. One bracelet has a blue plastic flower bead, white and black letter beads that spell out BARACK, and a blue star bead (.a). The other bracelet has a yellow happy face bead, white and black letter beads that spell JOE, and a slice of pie bead (.b). Letter beads are glued together.
Historical NotePresident Barack Obama made these bracelets by hand, braiding and stranding the beads, as part of a 2016 video made with Buzzfeed and TurboVote in an effort to increase voter registration among the younger generation.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThis item is part of materials acquired by the White House support staff during the Obama administration and maintained by the Executive Office of the President (White House Office of Records Management) until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
