Physical DescriptionBlue Malaysian dinner jacket (.a) with silver colored thread woven decorations and a removable pocket square (.b). Custom made from Songket fabric and pattern based on a woven silk brocade native to the state of Terengganu in Malaysia. Chinese-style Mandarin collars and Indian-inspired Nehru cuts were added to show the diversity.
Historical NoteThis dinner jacket was received and worn by President Barack Obama while attending the 2015 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
