Physical DescriptionA black cowbell, with post and nickel plated screw at top made of two pieces of steel soldered together. The cowbell is signed in silver ink and has a sticker with the American Flag in a circle on the side.
Inscriptions & MarkingsSigned in silver marker on one side with: To President Obama, good health to you! Albert Bouchard The opposing side is signed: More Cowbell, - with the band's [Blue Oyster Cult] logo through the center.Historical NotePresident Obama received this cowbell from Albert Bouchard, co-founder and former drummer of the band Blue Öyster Cult, during the Teacher of the Year event at the White House on May 3, 2016. President Obama honored Bouchard as an outstanding educator for his work as a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and teaching music at Edward A. Reynolds West Side High School in the Morningside Heights section of Manhattan, New York.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
