Physical DescriptionFramed Unit flag for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as SEAL Team 6) from Medal of Honor Recipient, Senior Chief Petty Officer Ed Byers, U.S. Navy. The flag is black with a gold border in the shape of a shield, and the image of a gold lion at center. Below the matted flag are four cut-outs in the mat, with a brass plaque in the center hole. Above the plaque and under the flag is a U.S. Navy SEAL trident. To the left of the plaque is a brass and black enamel challenge coin in the shape of a shield with the gold lion at center. To the right of the plaque is a circular challenge coin for the Naval Special Warfare Development Group with the Navy SEAL trident and American flag on it. Directly below the plaque, and applied to the mat, is a gold check mark.

The piece is framed in a brown wood frame, with a rope design along the interior edge.
Historical NoteGift for President Obama presented at Medal of Honor ceremony for Senior Chief Petty Officer Ed Byers, U.S. Navy. The gold lion represents the gold squadron of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as SEAL Team 6). President Obama presented the Medal of Honor to Chief Byers, the first living Navy recipient since the Vietnam War.

It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
