Physical DescriptionCeramic plate with a carved depiction of a zodiac monkey holding multiple fruits or vegetables with a flower at its back, surrounded by a glazed purple background and a light blue ring around the border. The reverse of the plate is unglazed and has a carved depiction of a zodiac calendar with a yin yang symbol at the center. Included with the plate is a custom carved wooden stand with removable third leg. On the front of the stand is the makers name in Chinese.

Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
