Physical DescriptionPainting on canvas depicting President Barack Obama from the shoulders up in a black suit, blue tie, and a French flag lapel pin that has a peace sign in the center. Over the President's right shoulder there is blue detailing and over his left shoulder there is red detailing. In blue on the left and red on the right the words "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" are painted repeatedly in cursive.
Historical NoteReceived as a thanks for President Barack Obama's support for the French during the 2015 Paris bombings.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
