Plaque below facsimile reads: A report of a letter from Henry Parkes and the People of Sydney to President Abraham Lincoln dated 4 June 1863 - "To your Excellency belongs the immortal honor of first proclaiming freedom to the American slave; and, through the work now begun falls far short of the complete emancipation which the world desires, we do not close our eyes to the complicated embarrassments by which your Government is surrounded in dealing with a matter to inwrought with American polity" Presented to the Hon. Barack Obama, President of the United States by the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, M.P. Prime Minister of Australia on Tuesday 19 January 2016.
