Physical DescriptionPainting on a wood panel in the shape of Sierra Leone that depicts a young Sierra Leonean girl surrounded by musical instruments. The girl rests her chin in her hands and smiles. The instruments pictured include drums, a horn, hollow gourds with beads, a xylophone, and a bowed harp. There is a colorful circular shield near the center. The background is composed of geometric patterns formed by multicolor dots.

Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
