Physical DescriptionPakistani rug in light pink, dark red, soft yellow, black, green, blue and beige hues. Floral and vegetative designs throughout, the sheen of the silk fibers gives the appearance of the rug being silvery light from some angles, and darker yellows from others. At the very center is a series of concentric flowers which move outward to different swirls of leaves, vines, and flowers. A series of rectangular edges block off a second floral pattern toward the sides of the carpet. At both short ends there is a row of yellow with repeating flowers and white fringe.Historical NoteThis item was received by President Barack Obama from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, during a diplomatic exchange at the White House on October 21, 2015.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
