Physical DescriptionBronze sculpture depicting two horses, one silver horse rearing and unsaddled and one black horse standing and saddled. Saddles are sterling silver gold plated with diamond, tsavorite, yellow sapphire and ruby and copper gold plated mesh blankets. Saddle stands are bronze with a textured wood-like surface, one with a saddle and the other with a gold rope hanging off one side. In between the horses are two small black and gold rock clusters. All mounted on piano black lacquer rotating base with gold details around the edge.
Historical NoteThis item was received by President Barack Obama from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud, during a diplomatic exchange at the White House in September 2015.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
