Physical DescriptionSet of four metal medallions for Collegio San Carlo Milano with a sculpted image on each side. The two largest medallions are copper tone while the mid-sized and smallest medallions are yellow-toned bronze. Overall - 3D (.c: "Hands" Medallion) H 3/8 in x Diam 2 3/8 in (1 cm x 6 cm )

The set contains on medallion that depicts the profile of a man next to a building with crosses and text "San Carlo Borromeo" on the obverse and the interior of a building withtext "Collegio San Carlo; Affuit illi sapientia" (.a), on that has a jagged zig-zag design on one side and a jagged cross with text "humilitas" on the reverse (.b), one that has three faces and hands on the obverse and stylized text "Humilitas; Collegio San Carlo Milano" on the reverse (.c), and one that has a face surrounded by crosses, a tree, fruit, books, letters and numbers on the obverse, and Collegio San Carlo Milano and Humilitas engraved on the reverse (.d).

Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration.
