Physical DescriptionRed, white, and blue handmade apron with a full skirt and tie at the waist. The halter ties are white, with printed white stars on either side. The bodice is made of a red satin material and has alternating vertical stripes. The skirt is comprised of two layers; the top layer is a blue synthetic satin material edged with the U.S. Navy's blue digital camouflage pattern on the bottom. The second layer is white fabric edged with the camouflage pattern of the U.S. Air Force. The belt along the waist of the apron is made from the fabric of a U.S. Army camouflage uniform.
Historical NoteAs part of the Joining Forces initiative, the First Lady visited members of the military and their families stationed in Vicenza, Italy. The gifter sends "a small token of my appreciation" for the First Lady's visit. The gifter used her husband's uniform as the belt of the apron. There are also pieces of Navy and Air Force uniforms in the bindings of the apron. The gifter's husband has been in the military for 22 years.
