Physical DescriptionCeremonial hood for an honorary law degree from Howard University made from blue and white satin and purple velvet. The backing is black, lined with blue satin. There is a black cord at the front of the neck and at the back of the shoulders to hold it in place when worn. Historical NotePresented to then-Senator Barack Obama on September 28, 2007 at the 140th Academic Opening Convocation at Howard University where Senator Obama was the invited speaker. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
