Physical Description
Physical DescriptionSet of six painted dishes with rippling texture designed to look like they are in the process of being created. In the left of each plate is the Nymphenburg Porcelain logo in green, a series number in purple, and a small square of gold leaf with RS. At the top of each plate is a black painted design of leaves and flowers on a branch with a decorative trim. The center and bottom right side of the six plates is unique to each all having an identical circular design with a center triangle and swirls in fine gold next to a half painted sketch of a natural element. Above and to the right of each sketch are test squares of color, inscribed with the color number, and detail sketches of a design element. .a: Depicts two birds on a branch. .b: Depicts an orange, white, and purple flower. .c: Depicts an orange and green flower. .d: Depicts a butterfly .e: Depicts a crane .f: Depicts a yellow and green flower.

Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
