Physical DescriptionA gold and silver fruit serving tray (.a) with oval shaped wooden base (.b). The tray stands on four knotted heart-shaped legs in a form known as a "Chinese knot" and has ropelike handles on opposing ends. The tray is designed to resemble a bamboo tray covered with a silver scarf that is decorated with motifs of the Baoxiang flower and scrolls.Overall - 3D (Tray on Base) H 4 3/4 in x W 15 5/8 in x D 11 5/8 in (12.1 cm x 39.7 cm x 29.5 cm )
Historical NoteThis was gifted from the First Lady of the People’s Republic of China, Peng Liyuan during the APEC meeting in China in November 2014.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
