Inscriptions and MarkingsText of plaque on obverse: "The Ijaw Fisherman"
The IJAW tribe spreads across many riverine States of Nigeria, namely,
Bayelsa, Ondo, Delta, and River States. Thus, this work is a Symbolic
representation of elegance, pride, and dignity in labour exhibited in an average
IJAW fisherman. Their fishing uniqueness and style keep them a step ahead
because of their proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. They are known as "men that
know the secret of the sea."
