Mrs Michelle Obama,
We've never met but I had the honour
and privilege of meeting your husband on his state
visit to Malaysia - my husband Khairy Jamaluddin,
was his Minister in Attendance.
In a speech at the state dinner President Obama talked
about his mother and her love of batik, not just as
traditional textile art but as a representation of the
people who made batik, who wore and used it. Because
my mother, who wrote this book, was the same we wanted
the President to have a piece of Malaysian batik.
I thought that I would like to give you this book, that shows
a little of the work and passion of a woman who used to
do the important work that you do now, but for Malaysia.
From a fan of your life's work and
current public roles,
