Physical DescriptionLight blue military helmet with painted symbols of Ukraine. The paint on the helmet is chipped and worn from use. The obverse of the helmet has a painted gold Ukrainian trident or tryzub outlined with black. The proper right side has a painted cluster of red Kalyna flowers with leaves draped with a yellow and blue ribbon. The proper left has a painted depiction of Independence Monument in Independence Square engulfed in flame with smoke in the sky. The reverse is painted with a white message that translates to "glory to Ukraine." The interior of the helmet has brown leather straps with metal fixtures.Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of a working visit to the White House by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk on March 12, 2014
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
